The Hogback Mountain Conservation Area is managed and maintained by 2 groups with the following duties which are discussed in further detail in the Management Plan.
Hogback Preservation Commission(HPC)
(Appointed by the Marlboro Select Board)
- Develop and Implement Management Plan for the Conservation Area
- Ensure Conformity of Management Plan to the Conservation Easement
- Establish and Revise Conservation Area Use Policy as Necessary
- Prepare an Annual Conservation Area Budget for the Marlboro Select Board
- Monitor Lease Agreements between the Town of Marlboro and (1) New England Power and (2) the Federal Government
- Manage the Conservation Area Endowment Fund
Hogback Mountain Conservation Association(HMCA)
(A Volunteer Organization)
- Day-to-Day Management of the Conservation Area for Habitat Preservation, Responsible Recreational Use, and Sustainable Forestry Practices
- Develop and Maintain Trail System
- Develop Educational Programs & Scientific Investigations
- Plan Special Events and Seminars
- Public Information: Mapping, Website, and Newsletter
- Monitor Permitted Uses and Report Violations to Preservation Commission
- Fund Raising and Grant Applications
